They live in the fictional small town of Crystal Cove, California, whose long history of strange disappearances, presence of ghosts and other monsters, gives it the title of the most haunted place on Earth.
It is on this reputation that the tourist industry of the city was built.

They often find themselves in comical situations, when the slightest abnormal event occurs, they flee in disaster, causing accidents accompanied by gags which end up serving the group in its investigation.
